Surface disinfection

Hand hygiene is important, but not enough as a sole measure. The reason: near-patient and frequently touched surfaces are often contaminated with nosocomial pathogens due to droplets and frequent hand contact. Hence, depending on the risk area, targeted and effective surface disinfection is a crucial element of infection control.
