Filarial worms
(parasite)

Filarial worms are nematodes.

They are common in tropical and subtropical regions.

Filarial worms may elicit differing parasitic diseases, including lymphatic filariasis and onchocerciasis.

Transmission mainly occurs via vectors (blood-sucking insects).

For a successful inactivation of parasites, specific disinfectants effective against parasites are required.
