Rod-shaped bacteria (bacilli)

Brevundimonas vesicularis
(bacterium)

Curved, straight or bean-shaped: bacilli come in many variants and are widely spread.

Brevundimonas vesicularis (former name: Pseudomonas vesicularis) is a Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium.

So far, only a few cases of B. vesicularis infection have been reported. Most of them have resulted in bacteraemia; also cutaneous infections have occurred. Additionally, B. vesicularis has been documented as cause of meningitis, peritonitis, and septic arthritis.

Due to the small number of cases the transmission path of the pathogen has not been fully clarified yet.
