Rhinovirus is a genus in the Picornaviridae family of viruses. The viruses are nonenveloped and icosahedral (shaped like spheres). More than 100 rhinovirus serotypes have been identified.

Rhinoviruses are the major cause of the common cold.

Transmission mainly occurs via droplets or particles in the air.
