Dengue virus
(enveloped virus)

These viruses have glycoproteins on their envelope, which are potential targets for external influences.

Dengue virus is an enveloped virus in the form of an icosahedral capsid (spherical shape). The virus belongs to the Flaviviridae family. Dengue virus has four serotypes.

The pathogen may be transmitted by different mosquito types. It elicits the dengue fever and dengue shock syndrome respectively involving haemorrhages (bleeding).

Dengue virus is primarily transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes.
