Rod-shaped bacteria (bacilli)

Brucella spp.
(bacterium)

Curved, straight or bean-shaped: bacilli come in many variants and are widely spread.

The Brucella genus comprises aerobic, coccoid, Gram-negative bacilli of the Brucellaceae family.

Infections triggered by Brucella spp. are associated with fever, fatigue and headache, and may lead to lymphadenitis (abnormal swelling of the lymphatic nodes) which can become chronic.

Transmission mainly occurs via contaminated water and food respectively.
