Rotavirus

Rotavirus is frequent pathogen of gastroenteritis in small children
Rotavirus

Nonenveloped, hydrophilic virus relatively resistant to environmental influences.

Around 50 per cent of all cases of gastroenteritis occurring in infants are caused by rotaviruses. Infected children are often the source of infection.

Nosocomial infections may emerge. Smear infection is the main transmission path. Airborne infections are possible as well.
