OECD

Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development: Organisation representing the major Western industrialised economies (e.g. European Union, North America, Japan, and Australia).

These countries have, for example, agreed on standardised methods for testing chemicals. The OECD Guidelines for the Testing of Chemicals contain a collection of the most important internationally recognised test methods used by the industry and independent laboratories to determine the safety of chemicals and chemical preparations, including pesticides and industrial chemicals. This also comprises tests for determining physical-chemical properties of chemicals and their effects on human health, the environment and the degradation and accumulation of these substances in the environment.
