AOX

Adsorbable organic halogens. Very heterogeneous group of chemical compounds that can be detected in the wastewater by a special method. The official limit (often 1 mg/l) may not be exceeded. Examples of AOX substances in disinfectants: Chlorinated or brominated phenol derivatives. In hospitals, the AOX content in the wastewater is also influenced by other substances that do not derive from disinfectants, for example, iodinated radiocontrast media.
